Searching for Traces in Metal: How a research paper in materials science became a detective story.
A racing cyclist falls. The victory is lost. But what was the reason for the frame breakage that shattered the dream of victory? Was it a structural defect in the metal or was it deliberate sabotage? The short film by doctoral student Jan Schmidt and doctoral student Ronak Shoghi from the Interdisciplinary Centre For Advanced Materials Simulation (ICAMS) at the Ruhr University Bochum deals with this fictitious case. The two attended a workshop organized by the Incubator Materials and the Materials Research Department (MRD) on the topic of “Video concept development for science communication.”
